Toyota unveils hydrogen-powered pizza car at SEMA

It seems like Toyota really wanted to stand out in the crowd at this year’s SEMA Auto Show. Rather than proceed with the boring premieres, it came out with a hydrogen fuel cell-powered pickup truck that can bake perfect pizza completely unattended.

Toyota has named its invention “Toyota Tundra Pie Pro”. Based on the Tundra SR5 pickup, it packs a Toyota Mirai hydrogen-based powertrain. In order to turn it into a pizza car, Toyota engineers had to disassemble it completely and them reassemble again, making numerous modifications in the process.

The Toyota Tundra Pie Pro only needs 6 to 7 minutes to bake you a hot, fresh pizza. How does it happen? Well, it has two robotic arms in its cargo compartment that can take your favorite pizza out of the fridge, put it into a special ventless oven, then take it out, slice it up and hand it over to you. Nothing magical, actually.

Another custom Toyota Tundra pickup featured at the show belongs to Kevin Costner. The off-road vehicle sports custom heavy-duty bumpers with winches and Rigid Industries auxiliary lighting attached, Fox suspension (+12 cm ride height) and a two-piece roof rack.
