Residents of Northern California will not soon forget the last year’s fire, which killed 85 people and destroyed around 19,000 structures. The tragedy was not without a hero, though: Alynn Pierce, a nurse, repeatedly plunged into the fire on his Toyota Tundra saving people from imminent death. He has managed to avoid serious injury, but the truck he lovingly called ‘Pandra’ was lost in the fire.
Toyota did not leave the heroic effort unrewarded and handed Pierce a new truck a mere week after he lost his Pandra – and not just any truck, at that, but rather a maxed-out Tundra TRD Pro. The nurse decided to give it a unique paint scheme to honor the original vehicle.
The customization was performed by Team + Bullet Liner, Rockstar Garage and an invited artist who flew from America’s other coast to take part in the project. The car received a special coating usually only used for truck beds, which proved to be a decent imitation of paint bubbling and boiling from extreme heat. The artist then applied a few layers of brown paint meant to imitate charred metal.
Aside from the striking livery, the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro gained a suspension lift, larger new wheels and a few other aftermarket upgrades.
To summarize, it looks like Alynn Pierce has succeeded in creating not just a unique vehicle, but also a memorial to the last year’s tragedy. It is heart-warming to realize there are people like him out there, really.
