The Japanese automaker has posted a short teaser vid focused on the engine of its new Tundra pickup, revealing a few details along the way.
The footage reveals an engine deck lid with three protruding elements and the caption ‘iForce Max’. It looks like the new mill is a six-pot, possibly an electrified non-turbo V6 or a non-electric turbo, like the one powering the latest Toyota Land Cruiser. The SUV has 415 PS (409 hp / 305 kW) and 650 Nm (478 lb-ft) of torque at its disposal, which it sends to the wheels through a ten-speed automatic transmission.
In conclusion, it seems likely that the new Tundra will ship with the two abovementioned engines – hybrid and turbo – while dropping the old 5.7-liter V8 from the lineup. It will also get T-shaped DRLs and a brand-new radiator grille.
The launch should take place in North America later this year.
