Car manufacturers primarily use the SEMA show to showcase third-party tuning opportunities for their cars, but the Toyota Trailblazer you see here may later turn into a mass-produced car itself.
According to Autoevolution quoting Lisa Materazzo, Toyota’s Marketing VP in the United States, the company plans to put the Trailhunter badge on all wilderness-capable cars in the future.
The prototype seen here is based on the Tundra truck chassis. The first difference you notice is an added roll cage on the bed. A closer look reveals upgraded suspension, stainless-steel undercarriage protection and heavy-duty bumpers.
The list of installed accessories mentions auxiliary lighting, an expedition rack on the roof with a built-in tent, a fridge, and assorted luggage compartments.
Per Toyota, these travel-friendly trucks will be mass-produced in the future, marketed as flagship versions of their respective lineups. Just which models will receive which modifications remains to be announced, of course.
