Toyota Tundra tries an Inkas flak jacket on

Canadian armored vehicle manufacturer Inkas has unveiled its latest project. Unusually enough, it’s neither an executive saloon nor an SUV this time around, but the U.S.-spec Toyota Tundra. Inkas says you can still use the bed for cargo transportation, while the cab will protect you from gunfire and grenade blasts.

The armoring standard is BR6+, which should be enough to withstand 7.62-caliber automatic rifle fire and the simultaneous explosion of two hand grenades under the truck. Impressively enough, the Tundra manages to look almost stock on the outside thanks to most of the plating being concealed under OEM body panels.

Thickened multi-layer glass all around, reinforced door hinges and puncture-resistant tires further add to the protection. An additional armor plate is located between the back seats and the truck bed.

In its most basic form, the truck also included various suspension reinforcements. Stronger brakes are a paid option, as are intercom and fire extinguishing systems, a siren, and dedicated armor sheets for the engine bay and the fuel tank. For propulsion, the Tundra still relies on its stock 3.5-liter V6 rated at 394 PS (389 hp / 290 kW), which works in tandem with a ten-speed automatic transmission.
