Toyota pushes back Yaris GR-4 premiere because of fires in Australia

The Japanese carmaker is planning to launch several performance modifications of its Yaris subcompact soon, possibly even including an AWD variant based on the Yaris WRC rally car.

However, due to the wildfires ravaging through the Australian state of New South Wales, the Rally Australia was cancelled this weekend, causing Toyota to postpone the reveal of its first beefed-up Yaris – the GR-4. The company hasn’t announced a new premiere date yet. Reportedly, the management is looking for a new suitable opening in the schedule and will inform us when one is found.

Toyota Australia has so far donated 250,000 AUD to the Salvation Army Emergency Services combatting fires in Australia.
