The performance-oriented GR-4 version of the Toyota Yaris hatchback will premiere at the Tokyo Auto Salon starting on January 10, 2020 – but the first spy pics are already here.
The car was spotted in Australia during what was likely a commercial video shoot. As you may see, it lacks the rear side doors and sports a smoother roofline along with upscaled air intakes, larger wheels, performance brakes, and a rear spoiler.
Interior photos reveal a handbrake and a gear stick. The submitter of the images claims he saw a new button next to the steering wheel, likely intended for on-demand intercooler cooling. There are also the mandatory bucket seats and the new sports steering wheel with a GR emblem on it.
No technical specifications exist right now, but many expect the Toyota Yaris GR-4 to ship with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine under the hood and AWD.
