Toyota keeps pumping up the hype around its upcoming hot hatch, GR Yaris. The latest video shows the car driven by several famous rally pilots – Tommi Mäkinen, Chris Mick, Ott Tänak, and Jari-Matti Latvala.
As should be expected from an advertisement video, the stars only had the best words to say about the performance-oriented car.
Spy photos showing the hot hatch without its test mule camo leaked online several days ago; despite this, the car is shown still camouflaged in the video. The technical specs also remain scarce at the moment: the company promises manual transmission, AWD and ‘rally technologies adapted to normal roads’.
The GR line sits between the ‘visuals-only’ GR Sport and the high-end GRMN. GR vehicles used to be available in Japan only, where they used to be called G’s, but the company made them available worldwide two years ago. For instance, France received a series of 400 Yaris GRMN vehicles with 212 hp (158 kW) under the hood.
