With its latest product release available as a kit or individual tuning parts, Toyota Gazoo Racing makes the GR Yaris hatchback even sportier and more aggressive on the outside – too bad it stays stock under the hood.
The main novelty comes in the shape of an aerodynamic body kit with new spoilers, side skirts and quad exhaust tips. There are also new badges, a red stripe running below the shoulder line, and carbon-fiber license plate holders. Set aside 415,800 Japanese Yen if you would like the entire set.
The cabin takes advantage of carbon-fiber décor on the front fascia and the doors, as well as branded floor mats and the Toyota Gazoo Racing Recorder dashcam which plugs into a USB socket. You can use the dashcam to record and analyze your lap runs, GR reports. The interior package costs another 165,000 JPY.
Further niceties include a GR-branded cylinder cover (3,900 JPY) and a red front strut tower brace (33,594 JPY).
Shipments will begin either late this year or in early 2021.
The Toyota GR Yaris still relies on its 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine with direct injection to propel itself forward. The Japanese spec makes 272 hp (203 kW) and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) of torque, whereas the EU spec is capped at 260 hp (194 kW) and 360 Nm (266 lb-ft). Six-speed manual transmission and AWD are standard in both specs. The EU version hits 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and maxes out at 320 km/h (199 mph).
