The performance-oriented Gazoo Racing version of the Yaris hatchback has made it to Europe, and customers in Germany can purchase it starting from €32,363.
The dimensions of the Euro spec are identical to those of the Japanese spec: 3,995 mm x 1,805 mm x 1,455 mm L/W/H. The wheelbase spans 2,560 mm, and the road clearance is as low as 124 millimeters.
The 1.6-liter gasoline turbo three-pot (G16E-GTS) lost 11 horsepower for compliance with the stricter emission standards and now pumps out 261 PS (257 hp, or 192 kW). The torque dropped by 10 Nm to 360 Nm (267 lb-ft). Despite this, the GR Yaris still hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.5 seconds and can reach 230 km/h (143 mph). With a curb weight of 1,280 kg (2,822 lbs), this means a metric-horsepower-to-weight ratio of just 4.9 kg / 1 PS. The transmission is six-speed manual, and the GR-Four permanent AWD system uses a coupling that distributed the torque depending on the selected mode (Normal: 60:40 front/rear, Sport: 30:70, Track: 50:50).
The compact three-door hatchback was built specifically for the FIA WRC homologation purposes. Its TNGA platform manages to combine features of two car architectures: GA-B (front McPherson struts) and GA-C (rear dual-wishbone suspension). The body is composed of carbon and TSOP panels, as well as aluminum parts.
The GR Yaris ships in only one trim level, which includes a two-zone climate control, an infotainment system with an eight-inch display, adaptive cruise control and the Toyota Safety Sense package.
