Toyota will be releasing 300 GR Yaris WRC Special Edition hatchbacks in Europe, dedicated to the company’s successes in the past WRC season and another productive year for Gazoo Racing.
All cars will be finished in either white or red and ride on 18-inch wheels concealing perforated heavy-duty brake rotors. The announcement also briefly mentions a limited-slip differential and tweaked suspension, but the latter is not explained in detail.
It looks like the engine stays stock. The GR Yaris uses a 1.6-liter turbo three-pot, has four driven wheels and hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.5 seconds.
The asking price is €42,500. Pre-orders have been running since November 27 and will close on December 4. A draw will be held to determine the 300 buyers, who will be notified via e-mail about their victory. After receiving the notification, the buyers will have two weeks to make an advance payment. The cars will not start shipping until summer 2024.
Toyota announced a mild refresh of the GR Yaris a while ago, and it is possible that the WRC Special Edition will be based on the new facelift version. Among other things, the manufacturer promised roughly 300 horsepower (225 kilowatts) under the hood and an eight-speed automatic transmission option.
