Toyota will be releasing a GR Sport version of its Yaris Cross for Europe, endowing it with a new trim and tweaked suspension, but no extra power. Ordering will open later in Q3 2022.
Starting with the front end, the radiator grille mesh is new and bears the GR badge. The tail-end flaunts a fake diffuser, and look at the arches reveals new 18-inch wheels. The whole car comes finished in a special shade of grey that you may specify with a black roof for contrast.
The cabin makes use of still more GR badges and grey/black seat trim with red stitching.
The original Yaris Cross (see video) shares the platform with the Yaris hatchback, which already gives it solid steering and performance. However, the new GR Sport version introduces more changes to the suspension that should enable drivers to feel the road better and drive more confidently.
In Europe, the only model on sale is a hybrid based on a 1.5-liter petrol engine linked to a CVT gearbox. It makes 116 PS (114 hp / 86 kW) and reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 11.2 seconds.
