Toyota has refreshed the Yaris Cross for the Old Continent markets. Pre-orders in some countries will open later this month, but the pricing remains to be revealed.
The stock 1.5-liter, three-cylinder hybrid powertrain has been upgraded with a superior electric motor and transmission. While the old version produced 116 PS (114 hp / 85 kW), the new one pumps out 132 PS (130 hp / 97 kW). The torque also went up from 141 Nm (104 lb-ft) to 185 Nm (136 lb-ft). As a result, the crossover SUV now sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 10.7 seconds – half a second faster than before. Just note that the base trim version still makes do with the old 116-PS powertrain.
The Toyota Smart Connect system has been upgraded with an improved voice assistant and OTA update support. Depending on the trim level, it comes bundled with a 7- or 12.3-inch digital dashboard and a 9 or 10.5-inch main display. A digital key fob and new driver aids are available as paid options.
Elsewhere, the new Yaris Cross benefits from sturdier engine mounts, more thorough noise proofing and thicker glass all around. Last but not least, it is now available in a new flagship trim called Premiere Edition. Buyers get all the equipment available for the model plus excusive body finishes, special interior trims and different 18-inch wheels.
