USA quadruples tariffs for China-imported EVs

As expected, the U.S. Presidential Administration has raised the import fees for all China-made electric cars from the original 25 to 100 percent, essentially cutting many manufacturers off the market.

At the same time, the government has raised the customs fees for China-produced lithium-ion batteries and their components – from 7.5 to 25 percent. The motivational part of the decision describes cheap imports as “dangerous” for the U.S. economy and cybersecurity.

The authorities of China have already voiced their discontent with these measures. In response, the country said it was considering imposing counter sanctions on the USA if the act remains in force.
