Used car marketplace iSee Cars has conducted a study and concluded that the average price of a pre-owned electric vehicle in the United States was lower than the average price of a traditional fuel car.
The turning point occurred at the end of the winter, and the difference has been increasing since then. In May 2024, the average EV cost 8.5% less than the average petrol car in North America.
After analyzing nearly 2.2 million car sale ads, the company found out that a typical used EV can cost you $28,757 in the USA. An average ICE car tends to be less affordable at around $31,424.
The situation was the opposite in June 2023, with EVs being 25.1% more expensive on average than traditional cars.
