Marco Giony, a semi driver from Italy, has set a Guinness record the other day by driving his truck between two roadblocks set 3.8 meters (not even 12.5 feet) from each other. He had to lean on two wheels for the stunt.
The Guinness Book of Records, which posted the video, said it would only consider the record set if the car would travel at least 10 meters (32.8 feet) on two wheels without tipping over, stopping or touching the obstacles even once. Phrased like this, it sounds like a serious challenge – yet one that Giony has succeeded at, nonetheless.
It took the stunt driver three attempts to do a clean run; the other two ended with him hitting one of the barriers. Giony admitted after the test that holding the semi in just the right position for the drive-through was the most challenging part. Once it got up on two side wheels, the truck started to ‘dance like a ballerina’ and refused to accelerate properly. For his successful attempt, the driver had to focus on two things at once – balancing the cab and keeping the acceleration constant.
