Bandit9, a Vietnamese company best known for its custom motorcycles, has decided to try its hand at sports car making. Its first project is the Monaco, a track-only one-seater powered by Tesla internals.
The model gives off distinct Formula 1 vibes and has a carbon-fiber monocoque with a laconic exterior. The manufacturer says the priority was to build a car that would handle like a bike – as much as possible.
The motor and the battery both stem from the Tesla Model S. The car has 543 PS (536 hp / 400 kW) at its disposal and up to 603 Nm (445 lb-ft) of torque. It is supposed to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.7 seconds and offer up to 402 kilometers (250 miles) of range. Note that the specs are preliminary and subject to change (and the range almost definitely doesn’t refer to track driving).
With its powertrain in the back, the car puts most of the load on active wheels. Acceleration loads may reach up to 2G, while cornering loads may go as far up as 4G. Electronic aids are absent by definition.
The novelty is priced at $150,000 USD. Buyers can request customizations at a premium.
