Volkswagen caught testing hi-end T-Roc R

Apparently, German car manufacturer Volkswagen AG has been busy testing the R version of its T-Roc mini-SUV at the Nürburgring Circuit.

What do we know about the upcoming Volkswagen T-Roc R? It is going to get the company’s trademark AWD feature called 4Motion, a 7-speed DCT box and a 2.0-liter turbocharged V4 engine with 300 hp / 224 kW. This is the same engine the current Golf R generation ships with.

Some industry pros claim the car will be about as fast as the Seat Cupra Ateca, which utilizes the same tech platform. The latter scores 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.4 seconds and tops out at 245 km/h (152 mph) when riding in a straight line.

The Volkswagen T-Roc R should premiere later this year. Later on, it is going to get a folding soft-top version.
