VW teases all-electric dune buggy concept

German car giant Volkswagen AG will be bringing an all-electric dune buggy concept to this year’s Geneva Motor Show. In the meantime, let us have a closer look at the first photos of the vehicle.

According to the company, the design team drew inspiration from the classical Meyers Manx dune buggy that used to be manufactured in the 1960s based on the Volkswagen Beetle chassis.

The upcoming vehicle has no roof or doors and features a high ground clearance, reinforced lower body and huge wheels clad in sand/off-road rubber. It takes advantage of the new MEB platform designed especially for the electrified and all-electric vehicles.

The manufacturer doesn’t say anything on whether the car will ultimately hit the mass market, so let us wait for the Geneva reveal to learn more.

In other news, Volkswagen expects to be producing 25 new electrified models by 2025. there will be a VW I.D. hatchback, an unnamed flagship sedan/saloon, a minivan and an SUV.
