The high-end SUV Volkswagen T-Roc R will celebrate its official premiere at the Geneva Motor Show starting on March 5, 2019. However, the manufacturer offers us a good perspective on the car right now, complete with teaser pics and technical specifications. Let us take a look!
Unlike the standard T-Roc, the R trim sports numerous body logos, large originally shaped bumpers, rear air vents, and quad exhaust pipes.
Technically, the car gets the same engine as the Golf R: the 2.0-liter EA888 turbo unit rated at 300 hp (224 kW) and 400 Nm (298 lbft) of torque. There is no manual transmission on offer, meaning that the Volkswagen T-Roc R will only ship with a 7-speed DCT box plus 4WD. The souped-up car needs 4.9 seconds to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) and may eventually climb as high as 250 km/h (155 mph).
In base, the R trim ships with a stiffer suspension and a lower ride height (-20 mm / -0.8”), a roll stabilization system that you can turn on and off freely, launch control, and a set of 17-inch rims. Options include adaptive suspension, 19-inch rims and an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system.
European sales of the Volkswagen T-Roc R will begin this fall, with prices still pending.
