Jetta evolves from VW model into standalone brand

The automotive world learned it a few years ago that Volkswagen AG was going to establish a new affordable car marque. Today, the company has finally broken silence by officially introducing the marque: Jetta.

From a legal perspective, the Jetta brand currently belongs to the FAW-Volkswagen factory based in China. The company already has another sub-brand in that country, SOL, which is dedicated to electrified vehicles.

The newly established car manufacturer Jetta will cater for the needs of people looking for affordable means of transportation. Rumors say it won’t even consider releasing cars priced above €6,000. The cars themselves will essentially be overhauled, cheaper versions of the original Volkswagen models, as you can see for yourself on the sketches in the gallery below. The yellow SUV is a spitting image of the VW Tharu, while the red sedan looks like the titular VW Jetta. Of course, the new company will try to keep both the exterior and the interior of its models as cheap and practical as possible.

Jetta will launch its first three models before the end of 2019. The production will take place in Chengdu, China. The company plans to expand its dealer network to 200 dealerships until the end of the year. If the marque proves to be a success, it may eventually expand to international markets as well.
