Volkswagen to refresh its logo

Volkswagen AG will be unveiling the company’s updated emblem at the upcoming International Motor Show Germany on September 12–22, 2019. The eighth-generation VW Golf will be the marque’s first car to wear it.

The most important feature of the new logo is that it appears to be completely flat, whereas its predecessor had a hint of volume about it. Another major novelty is that all GTI-series performance cars will have their logos painted red.

According to the company, the ‘New Volkswagen’ emblem should highlight it as a modern business. Sceptics have their own opinion on the matter, though, pointing out that the rebranding may have more to do with VW’s desire to distance itself as far from the Dieselgate scandal as possible.

Whatever the case, the costs involved are substantial, since VAG has 10,000+ dealerships in 171 countries throughout the world.
