Volkswagen AG will be releasing another subcompact crossover utility vehicle based on the Euro-spec five-door Polo SUV. The novelty will be marketed as a cheaper alternative to the T-Cross.
Jürgen Stackmann, from the VW Board of Management, shared the first sketch of the car on his social network pages.
The vehicle will be officially known as T-Sport and come based on the MQB A0 platform of the latest European Polo. This means that it will be under 4,000 mm (13.1 ft.) long with 2,560 mm (8.4 ft.) of wheelbase.
The Volkswagen T-Sport will sport a coupe-like body with a bulky rear end, just like the latest Volkswagen SUV Coupe Concept that debuted at the Auto Shanghai show a few months ago. See our gallery and the video for a closer look at the concept car.
According to Jürgen, VW will primarily target India and South America with the T-Sport, and no plans currently exist to make it available in Europe as well. The official premiere will likely occur in early 2020.
