The German automotive giant has released the on-board footage recorded by its all-electric ID.R Concept racecar during its record-breaking run at the Tianmen Mountain, China.
Piloted by Romain Dumas, the EV has completed the dreaded 99 Turns racetrack in mere 7 minutes and 38.585 seconds.
The raceway is 11 kilometers (6.8 miles) long and has plenty of abrupt altitude changes. Starting at 200 meters (656 feet) above sea level, it culminates at 1,300 m (4,265 ft.).
The car has been specially prepared for the race, with particular attention paid to the aerodynamic kit. The dual-motor electric powertrain remained stock at 680 PS (670 hp, 500 kW), meaning that acceleration from nothing to 100 km/h (62 mph) was a matter of 2.2 seconds.
