Volkswagen has officially announced the launch of its ID. Buzz model in the USA. The electric van will only become available there in two years’ time and in a limited number of versions.
Customers in Europe will be getting the ID. Buzz in standard and long wheelbase variants, as well as in two main cabin layouts: RV and LCV. Only the long-wheelbase RV model will ship overseas.
The base specification will come with a single electric motor attached to the rear axle, producing around 200 PS (197 hp / 147 kW). An AWD spec will get around 300 PS (296 hp / 221 kW).
A self-driving model is scheduled to hit the showroom floors throughout Europe after the regular van, and it remains to be seen whether that one will ever become available in North America.
Volkswagen’s EV lineup already has such entries as the ID.3 hatchback and the ID.4 SUV, with the ID.5 coupe/SUV and the ID.6 large SUV for China slated to arrive soon.
