A senior manager of Volkswagen AG has come forth with an official announcement of the forthcoming all-electric hatchback premiere in 2019. The vehicle will give birth to a brand-new line of environmentally-friendly VW cars, named the I.D. It will eventually be expanded with the addition of a minivan, a crossover SUV, and a coupe.
The first battery-driven VW prototype vehicle was first demonstrated at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. It had a 170-horsepower engine and batteries large enough to guarantee up to 500 kilometers’ driving range. This may change before the release, though.
We don’t know how much it will cost when it comes out, but it is reported that Volkswagen AG intends to spend €20 billion in e-car investments until 2030.
