The German car customizer TH Automobile has released a modded vehicle which is just as weird as it is cool. The guys took a Volkswagen SpaceCamper TH5 and overhauled it from the ground up for better dynamic performance – we’re talking MUCH better than such upgrades usually go.
To begin with, they have reworked the entire platform, augmenting it with a few parts borrowed straight from a Porsche 911 while they were at it. They have reinforced the floor paneling of their Volkswagen SpaceCamper TH5 van and retrofitted the latter with an opposed-cylinder turbocharged engine taken from the same luxury car mentioned above. With its newly found strength of 480 hp and 620 Nm of torque, the van can now accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in mere 4.9 seconds and reach as high as 270 km/h (~168 mph).
The modded Volkswagen SpaceCamper TH5 features sports-grade suspension and 19-inch light alloy wheels. Its dashboard and the steering wheel are also courtesy of the same Porsche model mentioned above. More remarkably, however, it is still fully functional as a motorhome. There is everything necessary to accommodate up to four people, including beds, a kitchen, and a coffee machine.
The unique Volkswagen SpaceCamper TH5 is now up for sale at €139,800.
