Volkswagen Australia claims it is developing a special car emblem capable of scaring kangaroos from the roads.
The RooBadge is apparently meant to solve a major problem plaguing the drivers Down Under: kangaroos who are either oblivious of the car next to them or too stubborn to move away. By emitting shrill unpleasant sounds in a directed narrow cone, the speaker integrated into the badge can persuade the meddlesome marsupials to clear the way.
Volkswagen swears it’s not an early April 1st joke (the original announcement was posted on March 29), but we are somewhat skeptical. There has been that “Voltswagen” incident, remember?
Guess we won’t know for sure until Monday is over.
