Former Volkswagen Group leader Martin Winterkorn will stand before the court once again in the aftermath of the diesel emission scandal that erupted nine years ago.
Prosecutors in Germany allege that Winterkorn, 77, was fully aware of his company using illegal software to circumvent proper diesel test routines. He is now facing new charges of fraud, market manipulation and false testimony.
If proven guilty, Winterkorn may face up to 10 years in jail.
