The German newspaper Bild has revealed several early photos of a new all-electric hatchback by Volkswagen, called Neo. First cars will reach their owners in 2019.
The upcoming Volkswagen Neo makes use of the MEB platform and resembles the VW I.D. Concept demonstrated at the Paris Motor Show last year. It comes equipped with an electric engine rated at 170 hp (127 kW).
Once fully charged, the car offers around 600 km (~375 mi) in terms of driving range, or less if you choose a lower-end specification. It is going to sell at €25,000 and above in Europe.
As we told in an earlier story, Volkswagen AG plans to invest up to €20,000,000,000 in R&D of hybrid and all-electric vehicles. The Volkswagen Neo hatchback will be shortly followed by three more battery cars: a sedan, a minivan and an SUV. The company hopes to expand its electrified vehicle lineup to 20 or more models by 2025.
