Content makers behind the YouTube channels Carwow have decided to pit all members of the VW GTI family up against each other and see who is the fastest.
The drag race occurred between the Up! GTI, Polo GTI, Golf GTI, and Golf Clubsport S.
Equipped with a 1.0L three-cylinder engine with only 115 hp (86 kW) at its disposal, Up! GTI was clearly the outsider of the race. The mini hatchback accelerates 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 8.8 seconds. Its performance-oriented variant comes equipped with tuned and lowered suspension as well as a spoiler wing.
Packing a 2.0L turbocharged engine with 310 hp (231 kW), the Golf Clubsport S was everyone’s favorite. The ex-champion of Nürburgring accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (60 mph) in 5.8 seconds. The vehicle belongs to a limited series of just 400 copies.
Interestingly enough, the top-spec Clubsport S failed to win the race, only scoring the second place. The title of the VW’s strongest GTI vehicle went to the Golf GTI.
