Next-gen VW Amarok to cling to IC engines

The new generation of the Volkswagen Amarok pickup truck, which is due in 2022, will be limited to gasoline and diesel engines, the manufacturer claims. No electrified or otherwise eco-friendly versions are in development.

Rumor has it the truck will ship with a new 2.7-liter, gas-chugging, twin-turbo V6, as well as the familiar 3.0-liter Ford Ranger diesel. At the end of the day, though, engine availability will be region-specific, with an emphasis on diesels in Europe and gasoline units in the USA.

Volkswagen AG may soon add another pickup truck to its lineup, called the Tarok. Its concept version, which is featured in the gallery and the video here, was first introduced in Sao Paolo, Brazil in 2018, and later on made an appearance at the New York International Motor Show.
