Video: High-end diesel SUVs drag-race each other

CarWOW has posted another YouTube video where it compares four high-end 4WD SUVs running on diesel fuel: The Wrangler Rubicon, the VW Amarok, the Land Rover Discovery, and the Land Cruiser Prado.

At under two metric tons (4,400 lbs), the Rubicon turned out the lightest of the four. It comes powered by a relatively modest four-cylinder turbo diesel rated at 200 hp (150 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft).

The Discovery packs 240 hp (180 hp) under the hood and has 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of maximum torque. It weighs slightly more at 2,100 kilograms (4,630 lbs).

The German-made Amarok packs the strongest diesel mill of the four, specifically a 3.0-liter V6 rated at 258 hp (192 kW) and 580 Nm (428 lb-ft) of torque. Its aerodynamic body comes encased in a plastic shell and also weighs around 2,100 kg (4,630 lbs).

Finally, the post-facelift Toyota Land Cruiser Prado proved to be the heaviest of the bunch with its 2,165 kg (4,773 lbs) of curb weight. Its power rating is also not exactly impressive: 177 hp (132 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft).

Watch the video to see how which one emerged victorious.
