The Volkswagen Amarok counts among the German marque’s best-performing cars. It feels about equally at home on asphalt, in the wild, and lugging heavy trailers. Racing could be the only area where it does not excel – but Darkside Developments has now fixed that, too.
The team pushed the stock V6 diesel to 400 PS (394 hp / 294 kW), simultaneously lending it an unforgettable soundtrack that you can get a taste of in the attached video.
The truck also received a lowering kit, performance brakes and some other sporty features. The tuner says there was no intention to turn a utilitarian pickup into a no-holds-barred NASCAR racer, but even so, the Amarok can be seen pulling ahead of the BMW X5 M50d in the video. Not bad for a car weighing over two metric tons / 4,400 pounds, right?
