Volkswagen AG has teamed up with Genesis Import to unveil an overlanding camping truck at this year’s Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, Germany. The base vehicle is the latest generation of the Amarok pickup.
Starting with a PanAmericana version of the truck (see video), the tuners gave it a tonneau cover and mounted toolboxes at the sides. They put three drawers in the bed for storing all kinds of expedition gear, as well as kitchen utensils. The roof ended up with an expedition rack doubling as a pop-up tent. A large awning was added for picnics out in the wild.
On the technical side of things, the pickup received a Delta 4x4 lift kit and large mud-terrain tires.
In case you didn’t know, the latest Amarok generation is currently being produced at a Ford factory in South Africa, since the truck now shares the platform with the Ford Ranger.
