Despite introducing an all-new pickup truck capable of replacing the Amarok, Volkswagen is apparently intent on keeping the old model around for a while longer, Motor1 reports posting a photo allegedly leaked from the automaker’s factory in Argentina. The truck is not disguised and looks like a facelift version for the South American market.
Starting with the front end, the radiator grille, the bumper, the hood and the headlights are all different. The rear end will likely stay stock, although the taillight patterns may change, and the wheels will probably be updated as well.
Inside, a digital dashboard and an updated VW Play infotainment system like the one in the locally made VW Taos SUV are at the top of our list of expectations. Some extra airbags and safety assists are also likely.
The engine lineup will stay unchanged. In Argentina, the truck is available with various diesel engines ranging from 2.0 to 3.0 liters of displacement and 140–258 PS (138–254 hp; 103–190 kW). In its most basic spec, the new Amarok will make do with a six-speed manual transmission, while the higher specs will utilize a ZF eight-speed AT. As usual, the buyers will be able to choose between AWD and RWD.
Everything suggests that the 2025 VW Amarok facelift seen here will remain exclusive to the South American region.
