Production of the hi-end Volkswagen Amarok pickup truck model equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel engine has begun in the manufacturer’s works in Hannover, Germany. The updated vehicle celebrated its premiere just a month ago.
The newcomer packs a revised 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine with six cylinders, 260 hp (194 kW), and 580 Nm (428 lb×ft) of torque. It can temporarily boost its power output by 14 points to 272 hp, which technically makes the new diesel-powered VW Amarok the strongest in the lineup.
Customers will be able to choose between two trim specifications, Aventura and Highline. The former comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission, VW’s proprietary all-wheel-drive, and an originally designed 20-inch wheel set. The latter is a bit more wallet-friendly.
A new Volkswagen Amarok Aventura would be priced just under €49,000, with the Highline spec €6,000 below that.
