Volkswagen AG has recently come out with a very interesting version of its Arteon fastback. Normally only capable of 280 hp (209 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lbft) of torque, the boosted Arteon had 483 hp (360 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lbft) of torque at its disposal.
But here’s the catch: the so-called VW Art3on Artcar has been built by Volkswagen students in a single copy and won’t be available for sale. Simon Murray (KADE), a street artist from Sydney, Australia, has designed its stunning exterior.
In order to squeeze the stock Arteon engine for as much performance as possible, the students applied the RacingLine Stage 3 upgrade. The power kit included a new intake system, a turbocharger, a large intercooler and a hi-end fuel pump. They also fitted it with a unique, custom-built exhaust system. As a result, the normally quite slow Arteon became capable of accelerating 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in mere 3.9 seconds, as opposed to the factory-quoted 5.6s.
The interior of the car was stripped of everything but the bare necessities, including a single row of racing-grade seats and a safety cage.
