The U.S. office of Volkswagen has announced an optional package called Basecamp for the coupe-style Atlas/Teramont. It makes the SUV look more off-road ready than it is, but let’s be honest: that’s beside the point for most buyers.
In its basic form, the package contains new bumpers with imitated skid plates, black wheel arch extensions, and matching door/sill moldings. The whole costs $2,774, but you can order the parts individually as well.
Further options include 17-inch wheel rims designed specifically for the VW Atlas Cross Sport Basecamp Edition. They come in two design variants and cost $315 apiece. All-terrain tires are recommended for use with these wheels, but not included.
The original Basecamp Concept that inspired the package was created four years ago. A similar option pack has been available for the non-coupe Atlas version since 2020 (see video).
