Driving a stock VW Beetle GLS along the wet clay trails of the Mojave Desert does not seem like something you can pull off, but with a few modifications by TFLoffroad, it might just be possible.
The scope of changes is actually pretty limited: open front differential gear, a lift kit for 2-3 inches (5-7.5 cm), and 16-inch wheels wrapped in thick off-road tires.
TFLoffroad has also reinforced the front bumper, added some lighting, painted the body orange and black, and swapped the standard exhaust out for a powerful Magnaflow unit. The latter bit sure does enrich the Beetle’s soundtrack with new bass notes, but it just doesn’t improve its dirt track performance in any way.
As for the hood compartment, it is still occupied by the standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 115 hp (86 kW). A four-speed automatic transmission sends the power to the front wheels. Watch the video to see how it fares.
Everything remains stock inside the VW Beetle GLS as well.
