Looks like we have a winner with this bonkers 6,500-PS VW Beetle

Elecromodding – the conversion of automotive classics to electric powertrains – is by no means a novel trend, but up until now, we haven’t seen it approach this level of craziness.

A couple of enthusiasts from the UK took a 2013 Volkswagen Beetle and stripped it of its original drivetrain parts, instead putting inside a quartet of high-end electric motors routinely churning out 565 PS (557 hp / 416 kW) each. Since the goal of the project was a drag car, the system was configured to be able to raise the total output to jet-shaming 6,500 PS (6,410 hp / 4,780 kW). Granted, the boost only lasts for a few seconds, but it still produces mad amounts of thrust.

In order to keep the electric Beetle nice and light, the team settled on using a modest 22-kWh traction battery. 800V charging support means you can top it up in several minutes and be ready to drive again. Last but not least, each of the four motors on board has its own dedicated DC/AC invertor that works wonders on the already impressive torque capabilities of the build.
