An extravagant motorhome named Holzhaus is up for grabs in Italy right now. What used to be a 1970 Volkswagen Beetle became a motorhome complete with a kitchen stove, a sofa and plenty of wood trim all around. The owner says he wants around €30,000, but the bidding has been stalling at a low €6,000.
The conversion took place in Switzerland in 1995. The authors behind the project wanted it to look like a traditional Swiss chalet while packing every necessity inside. They put a sofa inside, cut out full-size windows, added a dining table and did much more to ensure that the house on wheels feels like an actual chalet.
Power still comes from the Beetle’s original 1.6-liter engine rated at a meager 47 PS (46 hp / 35 kW). The total mileage amounts to 73,200 kilometers, or roughly 45,500 miles.
