We honestly have no idea why a huge car company like Volkswagen would release a car like Beetle without giving it at least some kind of hi-end version. This time around, however, ABT Sportsline stepped up to the task.
The tuner team began with a facelift. Their rendition of the vehicle gives off a magnificent pearlescent shine and sits proudly on new, cool-looking, 19-inch wheels. It also features low suspension with sport-grade shock absorbers and heavy-duty brakes.
The stock 220-horsepower engine has been boosted to 290 hp (216 kW) and 430 Nm (317 lb·ft) of torque.
Some would stop there and call it a day, but ABT did not. They have turned their attention to the admittedly rather lackluster interior of the Beetle. Seriously, cheap grey plastic? Well, not anymore. Now there’s an abundance of leather and carbon, and the seats look elegant with their new diamond-pattern stitching.
ABT Sportsline isn’t the largest car design workshop out there, but their works somehow never fail to impress. One of their recent releases was a unique Audi R8 art coupe bearing an original drawing by German comics artist Timo Wuerz. A while before that, the company had announced a small series of just 10 modded Audi SQ7 vehicles featuring 520 hp (388 kW) engines alongside numerous visual improvements, priced at €216,000 and above.
