Volkswagen Australia and Jayco Australia have joined efforts to bring us the Crafter Kampervan, a nice little home on wheels marketed as a premium alternative to the Caddy California and Multivan California.
The van is 6.8 meters long and 2 meters wide. Customers may choose between three versions: Standard, Style and Seikel. The latter comes pre-loaded with some off-road equipment, like a 30mm (1.2-inch) lift kit, skid plates and stainless-steel wheel rims show in all-terrain tires. There is a snorkel available at a premium and an awning that comes standard in all trims.
Inside, the rear seat row can be folded to form a bed for two. The front row can also be transformed when necessary. There is a lithium battery on board connected to some solar panels, a ventilation and air conditioning system, and a diesel heat fan for colder climes. The kitchen on board comprises a two-burner gas stove, a sink, a microwave, and a fridge. A full-fledged shower room with a WC is also provided.
Powering the RV is a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine rated at 177 PS (175 hp / 130 kW) and 410 Nm (302 lb-ft) of torque.
