After the eighth generation of the VW Golf has been repeatedly spotted out in the open, sometimes even without any kind of test wrap on, Volkswagen finally felt generous enough to treat us to the first official photo of a fully cladded bestseller hatchback.
The photo does a perfect job revealing zero useful details about the upcoming Golf Mk8, but, thanks to Carscoops (see gallery), we don’t complain. The vehicle is said to be running its final pre-production tests now. It will also be the first to get the new, ‘flat’ Volkswagen logo.
The cabin photos made so far make it clear that the scope of changes is great, indeed. There are hardly any physical controls in view, since most are replaced by an enormous touch-enabled display.
Contrary to popular expectations, the Golf 8 will not premiere at the Frankfurt show, but instead celebrate its debut slightly later, in October. Sales should start before the end of the year.
