2020 Volkswagen Golf GTE hybrid spied testing

The next-generation Volkswagen Golf debuts in October, but, as evidenced by these spy photos, its hybrid-powered GTE version isn’t too far away from premiere, either.

There is no badge on the car explicitly stating it is a hybrid, but the charger port on the front fender is a dead giveaway. Other than that, the exterior is standard Golf fare, minus the radiator grille and front apron.
Inside, the most likely upgrades include a new digital dashboard and numerous ‘sporty’ gimmicks, such as contrast stitching, special seats, and carbon décor.

The series will probably make use of the existing TSI engines 1.0 and 1.5 liters large, paired with 48V hybrid systems. The lineup should also incorporate two diesel engines and a CNG unit.

The 2020 Volkswagen Golf GTE will premiere alongside the regular Golf (see video), so wait until then if you want the final specs.
