The next generation of the Volkswagen Golf hatchback is coming out next month, but is has only just been revealed that the estate/wagon variant will be joining the family as well.
VW said last year that the Mk8 generation of the Golf would drop the long-roof version for good, but it looks like the original plans have since changed. As such, the new generation of the Wagon is already under development.
Rumor has it the new Golf Wagon will hit the showrooms in Europe in 2020 shortly after the launch of the standard Golf Mk8. Things will likely be a bit different for North America, where there will only be the Golf GTI and the Golf R. In Canada, the latest-gen Golf Wagon (see gallery) will remain on the market until VW decides whether to introduce the Mk8 there at all.
