The CarWOW team felt like seeing whether the Mountune M52 chip tune is as efficient as it looks on paper. The test focused on a Volkswagen Golf R Mk7, boosted to 360 hp (268 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque using software-only means.
An AWD Audi RS3 Sportback packing 400 hp (298 kW) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) under the hood was the hot hatch’s main rival for the race. Both came to the starting line in mostly factory-stock condition, unless you count the upgraded brakes on the Golf.
To get clear results, the team threw in a regular Golf R as well. As for the outcome – well, watch the video, you will like it.
