Volkswagen shows the Golf Mk8 cabin

We have seen pre-production samples of the Mk8 Golf running down streets many times, and the reveal is coming up on October 24, 2019, but the manufacturer still acts as if there were still suspense to maintain. These latest design sketches focus on interior details.

It was obvious from the start that the cabin looks nothing like before. The center console now only houses a bare minimum of buttons, and the center screen extends almost as far as the digital dash. Another touch-enabled panel likely fulfils the functions of the climate control interface. The air blowers now look much better and reside higher up.

The shape of its headlights will likely be the main distinguishing feature of the Mk8 Golf. That, and it will be marginally larger than the predecessor. Other than that, the outlines and proportions stay unchanged.

The model will debut later this year in Europe. The five-door hatchback will be the first to become available, followed shortly by the estate/wagon. As for the three-door hatch and the compact van, both are discontinued, and the chances of resurrection are slim.

The engine palette will consist of gasoline, diesel and hybrid powertrains. The performance-laden GTI (see video for test mule) and R trims will debut next year.
