The eighth generation of the Volkswagen Golf has only recently hit the dealerships, and the Mk7 is still the most frequent sight on most streets of Europe. No wonder tuners still pay it plenty of attention.
Unexpectedly enough, this particular engine upgrade comes from Mountune52, which usually specializes in Ford vehicles. It fits the GTi and R versions of the previous-gen Golf and mainly consists of a new cat-back exhaust system and some ECU tuning.
The Golf GTi can be pushed to 310 hp (231 kW) and 475 Nm (350 lb-ft) of torque, whereas the R benefits from 360 hp (268 kW) and 500 Nm (370 lb-ft). Tuned like this. the GTi sprints to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.5 seconds; the R sprint time remains unknown.
Options for both models include the in-house designed m52 X3 Intake System with motorsports-grade air filter. There are also two models of third-party wheels: fifteen52 Chicane (five robust spokes) and Podium (seven-dual-spoke design).
